When Preparation Meets Opportunity.
17 consecutive years of my life were largely dedicated to preparing for the challenges of competitive sports. As an aspiring athlete, I was often told, the birthplace for success is when preparation meets opportunity. As I look over my career from pee-wee league to professional organizations, it’s very apparent the amount of time spent practicing outweighed the amount of time competing in games. Preparation was paramount to passing the ultimate test of competition.
The book of James teaches us very practical yet powerful truths of exercising our faith.
Friends, I would like to encourage you to pay attention to the details of your heart during this Advent season. Since challenges are a common thread that unites all of humanity, let us spend more time training and exercising our spiritual muscles by prayer and reading God’s word. As it is written, having stood the test we’ll receive the crown of life as God has promised to those who love him.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us the ability to weather any storm. We ask that you continue to guide us and echo the importance of receiving your strength through preparation. Amen.
