Good morning! Our advent devotional for today comes to us from Chauncey Franks. Chauncey is our Senior Campus Minister to FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) where he serves as a Character Coach. You’ll often see Chauncey at TCU athletic events supporting our student athletes, and if you look closely you might even see a glimpse of him on the sidelines during televised TCU football games encouraging and supporting our football team. Chauncey has a big heart, and it’s a real joy to see him pour that care and passion into serving God by caring for our students. He’s someone who often inspires hope in me, and I trust he’ll do the same for you today. Have a wonderful weekend and GO FROGS!
Lamentations 3:22-26
“24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
One of the beautiful things in sports is when teams line up to play each other.
There is always a hope and a chance that you’re confident that your team may win.
One of the things that the TCU football team has showed us this year is that when you have hope in the Lord there is always an opportunity to overcome adversity and come out on the other side victorious.
The beautiful thing about the gospel and our relationship with Jesus is that we have hope in the promises that God has promised us in His Word. When we are going through difficult times, we can lean on our hope in Christ. When we feel lonely, we can rely on our hope in Jesus’ presence. When we feel defeated, we are reminded of the hope and victory that we have in Christ.
As we look to this season of Christmas, let us be reminded of the hope that we have in Jesus and the assurance of what Christ has done for us on the cross which has given us the victory in all that we do.
Let us pray.
God, let us remember our hope in Christ is that You are faithful and with the hope we have in Him we can trust that You have fulfilled Your promise. Amen.
