“Sacrifice: We Can Do it Too”

Reading: Luke 9:23 AMPC,  “And he said to all, if any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”

Reflection: There are over a million reasons as to why one may say that they love Jesus. I love Him because of his great leadership. He never commands his sheep to do something that he himself wouldn’t be willing to do. As we are in the midst of this season dedicated to self-denial, reflection, and growing in God’s holiness, consider the example that is before you. Making sacrifices can be extremely difficult, but we can be comforted in knowing that God promises us victory in the end. In denying ourselves, we are exchanging who we are, for more of Him, and I pray that we all begin to see the beauty within the hard sacrifices that we choose to make today, and forevermore.

Let us pray,

Abba, thank you for walking in perfection and granting me the ability to follow…even when it is hard. I pray that you would be my strength in my time of weakness, for my flesh will fail but help me to know that I can always lean on you. Jesus, help me to know that you are the potter, and I am always safe in your hands. May my daily sacrifices be pleasing in your sight, and as a sweet perfume to your nostrils. Guide me always with your light and truth. In your name, Amen.
